What’s the first step in getting a heavy vehicle licence?
Before enrolling in our heavy vehicle training course to get a heavy licence, you must pass the Road and Maritime Service’s (RMS) HR Knowledge and RMS Eyesight tests. You must be issued an RMS CBA (Competency Based Assessment) Logbook and CBA guidebook. Additionally, upon enrolment, we will need to check your eligibility with the RMS Heavy Vehicle–Competency Online Reporting System (HVCORS).

What to do after passing the RMS Driver Knowledge Test?
Contact Kool Driving School and book a training session and assessment. When you call, please ensure you have your Logbook with you. This is because we require the details in the Logbook to be accurate when processing your interest in our training courses.

What licence is required to drive a truck? What are the truck driving licence courses you offer?
We offer courses that could get you a Light Rigid licence, Medium Rigid licence, Heavy Rigid licence, Heavy Combination licence or Bus Driver Authority.

Can you get a licence for a one-day course?
LR, MR, and HR licence courses are taught and assessed over about eight hours, except for the HR licence course, which can go up to nine hours. HC licence course is delivered and assessed over about 1 to 2 days. But it is still important to note that each driver’s learning pace is different.

What are your fee and refund policies?
Fees are charged upon booking and setting training and assessment dates. Cancelling the course with less than seven days’ notice results in forfeited payments, while greater than seven days allows for a 100% refund.

What are your operating hours?
Our office hours and training schedules are as follows: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday, 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Can I enrol in your training even if I have no experience driving a truck or bus?
Yes, we have a training course that caters for beginners. Get in touch with us so we can help you determine which course works for your current needs.

Is your training done in a group or one-on-one?
All of our heavy vehicle training courses are done one-on-one.

How much is a truck licence course?
Our truck licence courses range from $800 to $1,300. It depends on the kind of course package.
